Music Media Converter (batch)

This script is a media converter tool that will convert audio files into mp3 files using VLC. View the text version for the best view.

If you don't know what you are doing below, don't do it. Things could get messy.

The script will support any music format that VLC player can support. (ACC, M4U, WAV, WMA.. etc) and can process 1 album in about 1 minute or so.
1) Back up your albums first!

2) Replace the XXX in the script to the input format you are trying to convert from, and set the VLC location.
(DON'T REMOVE THE EXTRA "T" on line 5)

3) Run the script inside the media directory you wish to convert to. ie:
C:\> \media\Album
C:\media\Album> runScript.bat

@echo off
set vlcLocation="C:\Program Files\VideoLan\VLC\vlc.exe"
for /r %%e in (*.XXX) do %vlcLocation% -I dummy --sout "#transcode{acodec=mp3,ab=128,channels=2,samplerate=44100}:std{access=file,mux=raw,dst=%%eT" "%%e" vlc://quit
for /r %%j in (*.XXXT) do ren "%%j" *.mp3
for /r %%k in (*.XXX) do del "%%k"

Notes:
1) I don't recommend that you use this to break any copyright mechanisms.
2) If used in correctly, this script could ruin all the music on your computer.
3) This script does not handle special characters very well.
4) If VLC player stops working after you use this, reset VLC's settings, as they may have been changed due to note #3.
